It started the way most good things do — over a conversation and drinks. Four people, two couples, neighbors by chance and friends by choice, all sharing a deep love for the North Georgia mountains and this spectacular place we're lucky enough to call home.
For locals, it's simply home — the mountain towns, the winding backroads, the people who never left because why would you? For everyone else, it's that familiar pull north on Highway 515, that trusty connector from the 575/75 corridor that carries you up into the Blue Ridge Mountains where the air gets cooler, the pace slows down, and something in you finally exhales.
Could a road become a brand? Could a stretch of asphalt capture that feeling — windows down, city fading in the rearview, mountains getting closer? Could we create something fun to wear that celebrated this place we love so much?
Turns out — yes. 515 Gear was born.
What started as a passion project between two couples has grown into a curated collection of apparel and home goods celebrating the towns, trails, and soul of North Georgia and beyond.
Yep, that’s right – we have merch celebrating beyond North Georgia because some places just grab hold of you and should be celebrated.
Whether it's a vacation spot you keep returning to or somewhere you used to call home... our "Else Where" category celebrates some of our favorite places as a
nod to wanderlust and the places that shape us.
We make gear for the locals who live it every day and for the people who keep finding their way back up the mountain or share a common experience in one of our loved destinations — because there's nothing like a good memory and a keepsake to wear it well.
Since 2024, the original crew of four has shifted with some well-earned retirements, but the spirit has never wavered: love where you live, wear it proudly, and share it with folks who feel the same pull.

Giving back to the tails of Ellijay
At 515 Gear, we’re all about celebrating the North Georgia mountains—and that includes the four-legged locals who call it home. That’s why we donate 5% of our profits to Ellijay Paws in Need, a local nonprofit working tirelessly to rescue and care for animals in need.
This mission is personal to us: two of our owners volunteer regularly with Ellijay Paws in Need, and a third spent 15 years serving on the board of directors for the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. Giving back to our furry neighbors has always been part of who we are.
